Terms of Use

Contents
In short
- Your licence to use the App is governed by Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA).
- This page adds the terms specific to Blurin. If the two ever conflict, Apple’s Standard EULA prevails.
- Please respect the people in your photos. Automatic detection is not perfect, so always check the result before you share it.
Which terms apply
The iPhone app “Blurin” (the “App”) is provided by Yuhei Koike (the “Developer”). By downloading or using the App you agree to Apple’s Standard EULA and to the supplemental terms on this page (together, the “Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
What the App does
The App hides faces and personal details in photos, entirely on your device. Its main features are:
- Face: finds the faces in a photo and hides them automatically. You can leave any person unhidden and move or resize each mask.
- Trace: hides whatever you trace over with your finger.
- Background: keeps people sharp and blurs the background.
- Crop: straightens and turns the photo and sets its aspect ratio.
- Effects such as blur, mosaic, paint, stickers, emoji and text; presets; My Stickers; and batch processing to hide several photos at once.
Features may change with updates.
What we ask of you
- Use the App only with photos you have the right to use.
- Respect the privacy, likeness and reputation of the people in your photos. Where required, get their consent (a parent’s or guardian’s for children).
- Do not use the App to:
- make images that hurt, mock or mislead others
- break the law or infringe anyone’s rights (including copyright, portrait rights and privacy)
- handle photos obtained unlawfully
- Do not do anything Apple’s Standard EULA prohibits, such as reverse engineering, modifying or redistributing the App.
About detection and results
- Automatic detection of faces, heads and people can miss something or get it wrong, depending on lighting, angle, size and other factors.
- The App is a tool to help protect privacy; it does not guarantee complete anonymity.
- Before you share or publish a photo, always check for yourself that everything you want hidden is hidden. Anything missed can be hidden with Trace.
Free features and Blurin Pro
Free, you can:
- use Face, Trace, Background and Crop with the free effects
- save and share with no watermark and no limit on the number of photos (saved images are up to 2,048 pixels on the long edge)
- keep up to 3 presets and up to 3 My Stickers
- try Pro effects and batch processing on your own photos (saving them requires Blurin Pro)
Blurin Pro adds:
- saving at the photo’s original quality
- Pro-only effects
- adjusting the background blur by depth
- unlimited presets and My Stickers
- saving batch processing results
What Pro includes may be extended or changed in updates. Features that are free will not be made paid by an update.
Purchases
- Blurin Pro is offered as auto-renewing subscriptions (monthly and yearly) and as a one-time lifetime purchase.
- The price, the period, whether a free trial is offered and for how long, and whether Family Sharing applies are shown on the App Store purchase sheet before you buy. Prices vary by country or region and may change.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- A subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. The renewal is charged within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- A free trial may be offered to first-time subscribers. If you do not cancel during the trial, it converts to a paid subscription when the trial ends.
- You can cancel and manage subscriptions in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s policies; the Developer cannot issue refunds.
- After changing iPhones or reinstalling the App, use “Restore Purchase” in the App to get Pro back.
Your photos and rights
- The photos you use in the App and the images you create with it belong to you (or to their original rights holder).
- Photos are never sent to the Developer, so the Developer never sees or uses your photos or images.
- The App, its design, its effect artwork, the name “Blurin” and its icon belong to the Developer or their rightful owners. Effects and stickers that appear in images you create may be used freely as part of your images.
Limitation of liability
- As set out in Apple’s Standard EULA, the App is provided “as is”.
- To the extent permitted by law, the Developer is not liable for missed or incorrect detections, or for damage arising from using or being unable to use the App. This does not apply to damage caused by the Developer’s intent or gross negligence, or where liability cannot be limited under applicable law (including Japan’s Consumer Contract Act).
Changes to or end of the service
The Developer may change the App’s features or stop providing the App. A lifetime purchase of Blurin Pro remains usable for as long as the App is provided and the purchase remains valid on the App Store.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. If a dispute arises about these Terms or the App, please contact us first at the address below. If it cannot be resolved, the Tokyo District Court has exclusive jurisdiction in the first instance. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under the laws of the country or region where you live.
Changes to these Terms
When these Terms change, the “Last updated” date on this page changes with them. Important changes will be announced in the App or in the App Store release notes.
Translations of these Terms are provided for convenience. If a translation differs from this English version, the English version prevails.
